This doesnt make ANY sense to me. Unfortunately, I’m too tired to elaborate further (for now). I’ll let the press release speak for itself.

The Consumer Electronics Association (CEA®), owner and producer of the International Consumer Electronics Show® (CES®), today announced that it will not launch a 2007 gaming event.
Based on industry feedback and a recent ESA announcement, Karen Chupka, senior vice president of events and conferences, CEA, issued the following statement:
“At the request of our board, CEA spent the past few months soliciting industry feedback, via advisory committee meetings and a research survey, to determine the need for a new gaming event. During this process, we found a strong desire for a gaming event that included a broad array of the gaming industry, including PC and wireless gaming companies.”
“Although CEA was prepared to launch a new event, the recent announcement by ESA that it would open its event to both ESA and non-ESA members and would include PC and wireless gaming, led us to conclude that a new spring West Coast event would likely not serve the best needs of the industry. At this point, we will continue dialog with the industry to determine if the need for a broader gaming event exists for 2008.”
“We believe that consumer electronics are a vital part of the gaming experience. Broadband access, quality surround sound, large HD screens, portable video devices and cutting-edge furniture, all can make the gaming experience immersive. Gaming and consumer electronics are inseparable and we continue to look for ways to work together in our mutual interests.”
The 2007 International CES, scheduled for January 8-11 in Las Vegas, Nevada, has announced a new Gaming TechZone for interested exhibitors. Located in CES’ Sands/Venetian exhibit space, the Gaming TechZone will allow gaming companies to showcase their products and technologies to the 2,700 exhibitors and more than 140,000 attendees from 130 countries that attend CES each year.

So I was watching “Dancing with the Stars” this evening and it turns out that yours truly may in fact, be psychic. Jerry Springer was dancing with some hot latina and well, he was performing with his usual gimmicks. As for ms. bonita– well, she was dazzling of course. Almost too hot to enjoy on TV.
Anyways, after the judges offered their short opinion on the performance, they presented their scores.
I looked at my fiance and said: “Watch it be Seven, Six and Five.”
Two seconds later, the scores came out “Seven… Six… and Five”… in that EXACT order. O_o
OMG!
Now if only I could figure out who was going to win the Super Bowl this year.
Anyways — more to come later this week. Work has been crazy and GN is need of a brief update. It’s going down this Thurs. Stay tuned!

So it looks like God Hand has been getting a lot of mediocre press as far as reviews go. That’s too bad. While the game is sort of an awesome mess to put it lightly, it’s about as pure as the beat-em-up genre has been in a long time.
Seriously, if there’s one thing we should all be able to agree on, it’s the fact that the fighting is amazing in this game. It’s so gleefully over-the-top, exciting and hilarious. It’s immensely satisfying to get in the groove of the controls and watch Gene bob and weave as you prepare to dodge the next set of fruitless punches from a hot-headed enemy, or dive straight in with a spinning roundhouse that sends everyone flying.
If Okami is Clover’s calling card that proves they can handle the Zelda formula as well as anyone at Nintendo, then God Hand is their big after party, replete with plenty of health-bar-filling fruits that help wash away that staining taste of blood.
Update: How sad is it, in the wake of this praising post, to be hit with the news of Clover’s closing?

I’m apparently number eight in the eight person reservation list at the local Software Etc. Hopefully it’ll all work out alright. This morning I was told that I’m guaranteed a unit, but with the possibility of Sony botching the number of manufactured units I’m really just buying a spot in line. I really, really hope I get one at launch. I’ll be camping Circuit City as a backup for sure.

So I blow off an important meeting today to get to the Gamestop at 9:00, an hour before opening, to secure a PS3 pre-order.
And there’s about 30 guys there already - so I am naturally out of luck. Can’t even put my name on a list for second/third/four millionth shipment.
The funny this is I don’t even want a PS3 that badly, but I am such a console whore that I want it just because….it’s “there” (or will be one day).
I was so pissed off I bought a second XBOX 360.
That’ll show ‘em.
