It’s done. I’ve just placed my order for what will perhaps be the most anticipated Genesis game of all time. Controversial in every sense of the word, Super Fighter Team’s Beggar Prince has finally begun shipping (Sega-16’s webmaster Steven Kenyon got his today, lucky dog!). I had to unfortunately wait so long for mine due to my car’s nasty habit of selecting one part per week for replacement. She’s a tough little bugger, but I so long for a second car. After dishing out $70 for a new battery today - because being stranded at work is so much fun, I said “screw it” and put town my $40 for Beggar Prince. I should have it within a week or so, if the USPS does its job, and then my free time is gone.
I wonder what the pundits will say now that the game is a reality. Many skeptics refused to believe that it would ever ship, and now that it has, I’m sure that they will find something else to rip up. The box art has already been torn to shreds on Digital Press, but my own boards were more reserved in their comments, and for that I’m proud. Of course, Sega-16 will have a full review, once I put this puppy through his paces, and I’m sure that many out there appreciate are going to appreciate the first fully packaged and commercially released Genesis game in almost a decade.
And if it sucks, I’ll eat my hat.
Wait, I don’t own a hat.
Ok, I’ll buy a hat and eat it. Peace out.
