I’m listening to Franz Ferdinand, hence the title.

Tonight Candice came over to my house, and she brought Guitar Hero. Holy God. I should have bought that game ages ago. I’m totally buying it on Thursday, when I get paid. Assuming, of course, that I have the moolah.

Just a question - am I the only one not into the idea of getting the DS lite? Portable gaming has never really been my thing, but when it has I generally stick to 8-bit games like Tetris and Zelda. I had a gameboy color back in the day. Dunno what happened to it. Oh, I also have some portable Solitaire game laying around somewhere for when the power goes out here. You know, assuming I could find it in the dark (power outages always invariably happen at night here). Instead of forking over money for the DS lite, I’m saving up for an ipod.

Now, if there were a way to take DDR and Guitar Hero portable, I’d be all over that.

Also - I haven’t been around much, did we get rid of the “Catagory” thing?

Does anyone have anything to say on game music? Because for me, that’s what it’s all about. The music and the storyline.

Hence, me being more into RPG’s than first-person shooters or sports games. Although the fascination I’ve always had with arcade-style games has never faded.

When I say game music, I don’t mean real-world music that they stuck in the game because it sounded cool. I mean stuff they hired a guy to come in and compose and perform. Regardless of whether or not it has words, I like my games to have good background music. If I’m fighting something, I want music that pumps me up. If I’m watching a sad part, I want depressing music. If I’m watching a scene where the main character and their love interest hooks up, I want something romantic. And if I’m playing a mini game, I want something to go with that, too.

I’m the kind of person who will actually go to bluelaguna.net and download music from video games that I like. I’ve actually purchased the FF7, FF8, and FF9 soundtracks. I’m a total geek when it comes to music. Let’s face it - I’m one of those weirdos who was introduced to music and reading long before computers, television and gaming. I’m one of a dying generation of writers, to quote Stephen King, and I’m wondering if anyone here has the same affinity for game music that I do. Because to me, it’s just as much a part of the game as the battle system, graphics, load time and storyline. If a game’s music sucks, the game sucks, end of story.

This is the kind of post ya’ll can probably expect from me - random posts involving small aspects of gaming, or nothing to do with it at all. At the very least, you’ll get your daily “WTF?” value. :D

Happy Memorial Day, everyone. I spent my morning at a Veterans cemetery (it was work related, but I probably would have gone anyway). Thinking of eating some leftover barbecue and going over later to help the Marines yank the flags (cemetery won’t let them stay more than the weekend). Then I’m comandeering my PS2 and playing some Katamari Demacy and FFX-2.

How’s everyone else’s weekend going?

Small rant - I’m a smoker. That’s not a huge deal in Nevada, cuz EVERYONE smokes here. We have casinos that practically encourage it. But there are two places I won’t leave my cigarette butts at - schools and cemeteries. So when the hell did common decency go out the window? Because I actually saw people ashing on graves and flicking butts out into the Veterans Cemetery. I’m sorry, that’s messed up.

EDIT - Hey, I remembered that I need to file this under my name! Go me!

I live in a town in Nevada. In a desert.

It’s the end of May, which is really close to June, considered by most to be summer.

It was snowing today.

That is all.

All I’m going to say on the subject is that I’m disappointed.
