It’s been some time, I know. Last week was chaotic. My fiance and I spent mucho time working (10 and 1/2 hours for 4 days), so I had little motivation to get online.

Since my last post, I’ve beaten two games and continued on two others. I’ll have reviews of the two I’ve beaten later (Psychonauts and Devil May Cry), but inside are some impressions of DMC3 and Kingdom Hearts, as well as some other musings and such.

My website, Wildcat Online, has been going for nearly 5 years. O_O It’s pretty crazy…time can go so fast. I’ve had a ton of fun with this site, and I can hope that people do come and visit on a somewhat regular basis. ^^;

Anyway, I’m holding an art contest (much like ones of year’s past) to celebrate 5 years of being online. And this year, I’m actually going to offer up a physical prize!..sort of. It’s a $10 Anime Castle gift certificate, but it’s physical. :p I’d do more, but I don’t make a ton of money, alas. Anyway, here are the rules:

1. Entries are due on August 13th. The anniversary is on Aug. 6th, but I got a later start on posting this up than I planned, so I delayed the contest a week.

2. Hand-drawn or computer drawn images are both fine.

3. No hentai and the like. :p

4. The art does not have to be colored, if the artist so chooses.

5. Art will be judged by me after all entries are recieved. My fiance may enter, but she is exempt from getting the prize (although I love her greatly!).

6. To submit an entry, you can do so in this thread I made in the Got-Next forums. Also note that you can submit more than one entry. ^^

7. There are 6 different categories you can choose from to submit art for. By categories I mean 2 individual games, 2 gaming companies and my comics. All categories will be combined when I judge the pieces.

8. The winner will recieve a $10 Anime Castle Gift Certificate, which I will mail to them after I get the winner’s address. I will then discard the address.

The 6 categories are Skies of Arcadia, Tales of Symphonia, Nintendo (Fire Emblem, Legend of Zelda or Metroid preferred), Capcom (Street Fighter, Rival Schools or Resident Evil preferred), or either of my webcomics on my website. I have handy reference material on my site which can be viewed here.

Post any questions via the comment system. ^^ Good luck, everyone!

Body Harvest was a N64 title that was developed by DMA Design, assisted by Nintendo and published by Midway right around Zelda: Ocarina of Time’s debut. Despite featuring unimpressive first-gen graphics in a second-gen era, BH packs enough unique (at the time) gameplay ideas, huge areas to explore, plenty of challenge and fairly solid controls to earn a very treasured place in my heart.

However, I have a lot of reason to believe that Body Harvest helped inspire the creation of Grand Theft Auto 3. How’s that, do you ask? You’re a thug in GTA and a time-traveling space marine in BH…how could those be related? The comparison is not the main character or the setting, but instead the gameplay ideas I mentioned above.

Yesterday I managed to stumble across a Nintendo collectable that has recently become quite popular in gaming cameos at a flea market. He’s appeared in Pikmin 2, Mario Kart DS and F-Zero GX…any guesses?

In case you’re still wondering, I found ROB. He didn’t have his Gyromite parts, but he is in excellent condition and was $3. So I couldn’t pass him up. When my fiance and I get a bigger place and I can flood a room full of gaming merchendise, he’ll be one of the centerpieces.

There’s also a consignment store near my hometown that carries all kinds of cool gaming stuff. Last time I was there I picked up the legendary Ninja Gaiden II for $1. ^^

So, anyone partake of the flea market/yard sale/consignment store bargains? What excellent game or gaming knickknack have you managed to find? And was there something that you just couldn’t quite get but wished you could?

I hate Gamestop. With a passion. There is a strong reason for that - they’ve taken the retro out of gaming. They removed the NES, SNES, DC and Genesis games from their stores a while ago, but the recent upheaval of N64 and PS1 games leaves me feeling a little depressed. It’ll take some history to fully explain this feeling, so head inside for more…
