In their continuing quest to dominate the HD download movie market, Microsoft has partnered with Walt Disney Studios to bring a selection of new and classic feature films to the LIVE Marketplace. The official announcement was part of Microsoft's E3 2007 Press Conference tonight. It's not just for the kiddies though. The catalog will feature titles from Walt Disney Pictures, Touchstone Pictures, Hollywood Pictures and Miramax Films. The content is available for immediate download on LIVE.
If your television service provider is Cablevision or Dish TV, then you might want to cancel your plans for this evening (or at least set your DVR). For the first time, the Hip Hop Gaming League Finals will be broadcast in hi-def on GAMEPLAY HD (part of the VOOM suite of channels).
Airing tonight at 8 PM EST, the Finals pit the infamous Pacman Jones (of Tennessee Titans and courtroom fame), Eric V of "The Baka Boyz", Han Cholo, and Murs battling each other in EA's NCAA Football 07 for the rights to claim the championship.
The original hi-def documentary shows the on-stage and behind-the-scenes antics of the players, including what's sure to be some pretty intense trash-talking.
It’s not everyday that we would devote a post for blatant plugging, but in this case, an exception has to be made. By now, most anime enthusiasts are well aware that Otaku USA recently hit newstands. It’s the first first true cross-media hybrid publication which made its debut earlier this month on June 6, 2007.
Inside, you’ll find the mag is loaded with tons of coverage including a spread on Gunpla, anime releases, a look at some cool toys in Japan, and more. The gaming section was primarily covered by our very own Joseph and *surprise* yours truly. Compared to Joseph, he delivered a LOT more content — which shouldn’t come as a surprise to anyone that knows him; he’s is a TRUE otaku!!!
So far, the first issue has received plenty of positive feedback and some valued suggestions to help shape the success of the mag. A letters section is said to be in the works, but for the time being, you can add your two cents by registering at the official community forums.
Oh, and most importantly — please show your support by heading down to your local bookstore (Barnes & Nobles, Borders, etc.)
I’m sure that a fair share of you listen to podcasts about gaming or whatever else tickles your fancy. Well, I’ve been meaning to share this for quite a while, but I wanted to get it to just the right sweet spot of enjoyability before pushing it further upon the masses.
Robotronic Dynamite! is a weekly podcast recorded by myself and 3-4 other like-minded, handsome, gaming-entrenched fellows, in which we jam about videogames, movies, and sometimes television. We talk about what titles we’ve been digging into, sometimes we touch on news, and we try to check out the flicks that hit the theaters each week and usually end up inadvertently arguing about them and speeding off on a dozen other tangents.
Check it out, subscribe to it on iTunes, and let us know what you think. Is there anything you’d like to hear us talk about? You can even leave angry voice-mails via our blog!
Some content will most certainly be deemed explicit so, naturally, listen at your own discretion!
Addendum: Avoid the first few episodes, for your sanity’s sake.
For those of you who can’t wait till July 4th to see the live-action version of Transformers? Good news, it’s being released a bit earlier… by one day. Yeah, when I first heard the news about an early opening — my initial thought was: “Sweet, it’s coming out several days earlier”.
The decision came down personally from director Michael Bay who encouraged fans on his blog to show their support for a July 3 release, which by evidence of this post, was successful. 24 hours isn’t THAT big of a deal, but you can bet that I won’t be hesitating to see it on July 3. Optimus Prime and the Autobots are back in full effect, I am so in there with all you diehard fans!
On a different note, rumors of two Transformers sequels allegedly would be developed in the near future. Take this with a grain of salt because for now, it’s all unconfirmed and no concrete details have been reveled just yet. I guess we’ll know a lot more after the film has had time to shine at the box office.
