I’m sure that a fair share of you listen to podcasts about gaming or whatever else tickles your fancy. Well, I’ve been meaning to share this for quite a while, but I wanted to get it to just the right sweet spot of enjoyability before pushing it further upon the masses.

Robotronic Dynamite! is a weekly podcast recorded by myself and 3-4 other like-minded, handsome, gaming-entrenched fellows, in which we jam about videogames, movies, and sometimes television. We talk about what titles we’ve been digging into, sometimes we touch on news, and we try to check out the flicks that hit the theaters each week and usually end up inadvertently arguing about them and speeding off on a dozen other tangents.

Check it out, subscribe to it on iTunes, and let us know what you think. Is there anything you’d like to hear us talk about? You can even leave angry voice-mails via our blog!

Some content will most certainly be deemed explicit so, naturally, listen at your own discretion!

Addendum: Avoid the first few episodes, for your sanity’s sake.

For those of you who can’t wait till July 4th to see the live-action version of Transformers? Good news, it’s being released a bit earlier… by one day. Yeah, when I first heard the news about an early opening — my initial thought was: “Sweet, it’s coming out several days earlier”.

The decision came down personally from director Michael Bay who encouraged fans on his blog to show their support for a July 3 release, which by evidence of this post, was successful. 24 hours isn’t THAT big of a deal, but you can bet that I won’t be hesitating to see it on July 3. Optimus Prime and the Autobots are back in full effect, I am so in there with all you diehard fans!

On a different note, rumors of two Transformers sequels allegedly would be developed in the near future. Take this with a grain of salt because for now, it’s all unconfirmed and no concrete details have been reveled just yet. I guess we’ll know a lot more after the film has had time to shine at the box office.

Summer’s approaching, and with that the summer blockbusters come with it. Having Michael Bay’s name inappropriately latched onto one of my fondest childhood memories nearly brought me to tears. His films are synonymously known for their over-the-top and sometimes unnecessary explosions, and also the co-starring of an obligatory hot chick. Having wiped my conscience clean of the potential failure of a movie that’s easily ten years too late, I plunged into what could be the suicide of one of the greatest TV shows ever, and viewed this trailer…

Freakin’ awesome!

Admit it… she’s the real reason you watch this show.

While I’d be a lot more thrilled for an on-demand release of the past season, Heroes fans can show off their support for the series with the release of new Theme and Gamer packs from the hit show. Taking a creative lead from the series, the graphically stunning images are rendered as paintings which foretell iconic events in the program’s mythology.

“Heroes has broken new ground in episodic storytelling and has resonated with an astonishingly broad audience, and certainly with the gamer community,” said Bill Kispert, Vice President and General Manager, Interactive, Universal Studios Digital Platforms Group. “We are excited that Xbox LIVE members will now be able to personalize their gameplaying experiences with authentic images from the “Heroes? universe.?

I’ll have to look into picking this content later in the week because Rush ‘n Attack and Xevious are hitting XBLA on Wednesday.

I’m going to do something here that may very well ruin whatever credibility I had on this site. I’m going to recommend DOA: Dead or Alive as a must see movie this summer. Thanks to the DVD hitting Asian markets (yes, the legit DVD, not bootleg), I was able to watch all 83 minutes of quick cut, cheesetastic T&A-filled fighting. Helmed by veteran Hong Kong maestro Corey Yuen, DOA does an impressive job of making this cast (most of whom are not real martial artists) appear like masters with slick editing and all sorts of other techniques this Hong Kong filmmaker had at his disposal.

Kasumi, Christie, Helena, and Tina are the main focus (Lei Fang gets totally shafted). The choice of Devon Aoki as Kasumi is questionable (she’s not nearly cute enough to pull this off), though the rest of the cast matches pretty well. After a video-game style intro to each main character, the story herds them to the DOA tournament by way of invitation where they attend with their own agendas (Kasumi is looking for her brother, Tina wants to prove herself, and Christie wants the prize money and more). What they discover–besides volleyball and partying–is that they will have to fight to save not only their lives, but the lives of their fellow contestants.

In order to truly enjoy the film, there are some prerequisites. Step 1: turn off brain. This will ensure that all understandings of physics, plausibility, reality, meaningful storyline, and so forth will not be an issue. Step 2: enjoy! It’s that simple. The movie is not the best martial arts film ever, nor is it attempting to be. It’s a true testament to a game series founded on pretty girls with big boobs kicking all sorts of ass. Think Mortal Kombat only with much better fight sequences and the king of all villains: Eric Roberts.
