We can’t forgive, but we can forget.

Yes, yes. Let that sink in. Contra 4. DS. 2D. Side scrolling. Dual Screens. Grappling Hook!? Alright, now breathe into this paper bag, everything is going to be just AWESOME.

There are no screenshots or videos yet but Konami probably realized that too much Contra info too soon might result in brain damage. The announcement of the game alone was enough to make me think I woke up in some alternate universe. So I’m content to just know it’s coming.

But Konami? Tomorrow I’m gonna need some screens.

Long time no see (seems like I begin every post of mine on here this way…sorry), all. Just thought I’d drop by and let you know what’s going on in my gaming life. ^_^

The household DS has been seeing a lot of gametime lately. My fiance and I gobbled up the excellent Hotel Dusk: Room 215, which I heartily recommend to anyone who wants an intriguing story. The gameplay is your typical point/click adventure with DS-specific touch screen puzzles, but the writing is top-notch and the art style is really, really awesome (think a-ha’s Take on Me, but more gritty). I’ve also gotten the OBJECTION! bug thanks to Phoenix Wright. We’ve conquered the first game, and now I’ve begun the second case on the second. I love these. Despite being a bit more typo-ridden than HD:R215 (which only had one that I noticed), the story is really engaging and the characters are a delight. It’s great fun piecing together the evidence into the witnesses’ testimonies.

Outside of the DS, I’ve fallen in love with Okami. After roaming the fields of Nippon for several hours, my heart cries that Capcom shut down Clover Studios. I do eagerly look forward to the work SEEDS puts out. This game is gorgeous in a artistic design manner, controls like a dream and rivals Zelda in its ingenious level design. My fiance is miles ahead of me, but I’m really happy with my purchase.

So…what’s up with you guys? ^_^ I’ll post some of my later reviews at a later date…I’m almost off of work, so I’ll have to jet shortly.

Well this should be interesting. Mario and Sonic will finally, after all these years, appear in a game together and it’s not Smash Bros. Brawl (yet). Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games will pit Mario, Sonic, Luigi, Knuckles, Yoshi, Tails and other, as-yet unannounced competitors, against each other. So far we know that they’ll compete in swimming, ping pong (table tennis, for the heathen), track events, and more for the game’s Christmas release.

Mario & Sonic is being developed by Sega, although there’s no word yet on which of their internal teams gets the responsibility, and will be available on DS and Wii. All over the internet, prayers of “Please be good, please be good” are floating to the heavens.

If Daisy doesn’t get Wario to break Amy’s knee with a lead pipe, I’m going to be very let down.

I don’t know anymore how I feel about Hotel Dusk, other than the fact that I will finish the game soon, dammit. I am in Chapter ten now, which I have to imagine is just about near the end.

I’ve reached the point where I simply have to finish, of course, because I’ve gotten too far along to give up now. I have to admit that I am completely torn by it; on one hand, the nifty art style and point-to-move-your-guy-around mechanic has proven interesting enough. On the other hand, the whole concept of using the word “game” is a bit dubious. To be frank, it’s a story that incorporates a slight amount of puzzle solving as opposed to a traditional game.
