Naming contest pronounces a winner.

Joining the ranks of the dozens of other games that begin with the word Project (and the countless more with Project somewhere in their title) Warner Bros. and Monolith announced today that the final title for the game previously known as "We Aren't Allowed to Call it F.E.A.R. 2", will be Project Origin. The name was chosen by fans as part of the Name Your Fear contest and beat out finalists Dark Signal and Dead Echo. I think Dark Echo would've been a great title if it wasn't already the Japanese subtitle for Metroid Prime 2.

Vivendi, F.E.A.R.'s original publisher and current trademark holder has yet to announce their own F.E.A.R. 2 but, as previously reported, a second expansion pack for the original F.E.A.R., called Perseus Mandate, will be available for PC this fall while a collection of both expansions will be released as F.E.A.R. Files for the 360.

Project Origin has no set release date but will appear on PC, 360, and PS3.

Filling XBLA's need for cel-shaded zany strategy.

Hothead Games has just announced On the Rain-Slick Precipice of Darkness will make its debut on Xbox Live Arcade in early 2008, making it the first episodic game series to hit Microsoft's downloadable game marketplace.  Those without XBLA, can still enjoy this colorfully bizarre game series in XP, Vista, Mac OS X, and even Linux.

"We're very excited to be bringing our game series to Xbox LIVE Arcade," said Vlad Ceraldi, Hothead's President. "We love Xbox LIVE Arcade's ability to deliver great content directly to gamers. Digital distribution lets indie game developers innovate and experiment with new gameplay concepts."

This comes hot on the heels of the launch of www.rainslick.com, the official site for the game, launched in conjunction with the Penny Arcade Expo. With game trailers and the online press kit, the new site is the best place for the latest info on Penny Arcade Adventures right up until launch.

Today, Logitech announced two brand new PC peripherals, set to make your gaming rig even more powerful - and (almost) guaranteed to improve your skills.

First comes the Logitech G9 Laser Mouse, customizable in a variety of ways. Between a "Precision" and "Wide Load" grip, adjustable speeds and weights, storable settings, customizable LED, and modifiable scroll wheel, the G9 is sports scads of features for hardcore PC gamers. Look for it available in stores this month, retailing for $99.

Second is the G15 keyboard - touted as "the Ultimate Keyboard for Serious PC Gamers" - which comes packed to the gills with programmable accoutrements. There's an integrated LCD screen to keep you up to date with game or system stats, backlit keys, 6 programmable keys, 2 USB hubs, and a detachable palmrest. It hits stores in October of this year and will also retail for $99.

Of course, these products will also be available directly from Logitech via their website at www.logitech.com. It could be a little merrier Christmas for that ravenous PC gamer we all know and love.

After six monthly episodes of Sam and Max, many of us were starting to get used to the idea of Freelance Police being regular companions, and not the nostalgic memories we had longed to recapture. While Telltale had been dropping hints that it planned to continue the series — the fact that they called it "Season One" was probably the first clue — there was little said about  when and the how.
