Rumors were abuzz regarding a possible price drop of the Game Boy Advance SP prompted by recent reports that major retailers received signage in anticipation of speculation becoming reality. Today, Nintendo drop the ball and confirmed everyone's suspicions and has officially announced the GBA SP will be available for $79.99 beginning September 2.
The price drop will coincide with Nintendo's new campaign, called "Start Mayhem", designed to broaden the audience of the Game Boy Advance. The "Start Mayhem" campaign will showcase the system's new price point and the different

With the new price point established for the GBA SP, what of its successor, the Nintendo DS? We're still uncertain how much the unit will cost when it's released later. Rumors suggest we could be looking at a price tag ranging anywhere from $100 - $150. It's only a matter of time before the price point of the DS is revealed. We'll keep you posted.
