JPN SF Anniversary Collection confirmed to work on U.S. Xbox units
Can you say import?

Edit: New information, read this first...

Dust off those joysticks, brush up on those 2-in-1 techniques, it's time to go for broke.

Diehard fighting fanatics who can't bear to wait until 2005 will be delighted to hear that the Japanese version of Street Fighter Anniversary Collection works on North American Xbox units. And yes, in case you're wondering, you can brawl against other players online. Undoubtedly, this is one of the more exciting news tidbits to come across the wire this week.

If you're still skeptical, Play Asia has officially confirmed this recent revelation:

The game is using "W-code" which means when you use a NTSC-J Xbox, it will have Japanese wordings. If you use a NTSC-U/C Xbox, it will come up with English wordings. Consequently the game can be played on NTSC/J or NTSC/U/C Xbox consoles.

So there you have it in black and white. If you're looking to pick up the game, we recommend checking out National Console Support (NCS) or Play Asia (where we're personally picking up our copy).

Special thanks to industry colleague Jason Wilson for the tip.
